Overview

ReShot is a fast-paced 2D platformer shooter with a catch: your gun ignores the laws of time. Shoot. Die. Respawn. That same bullet now travels through time, appearing in your next life exactly when and where you fired it before.

The game placed 20th out of 9,560 entries in GMTK Game Jam 2025 in the creativity category, and scored solid results across other categories.

Level Design

I designed all the levels and puzzles. The hardest part was making them work well with the time mechanic. Since the player repeats levels multiple times, I had to make sure it doesn’t feel boring.

Longer levels have shortcuts, and respawn points are usually somewhere in the middle of the level. That way retries feel faster and more focused.

Enviromental Art

I made the tilesets and environment details. The goal was to keep everything clear and readable, so the focus stays on gameplay.

Character Art

I created all character and enemy art. For the enemies, I made a set of modular parts that can be combined in different ways. This saved time and allowed for more variety.

Music

I composed all the music for the game. Since it was a jam, I used GarageBand and premade loops. The soundtrack was made in about three hours.

I also made a simple music manager that plays an intro once and then loops the main part smoothly.
